Lesson Plans

Included with these scrapbook page templates is a list of classroom suggestions and lesson plans written for the teacher on how to make this scrapbooking or archival project for the classroom align with the standards and a learning experience.

At the top of the list is our suggestion that this classroom learning activity be planned during the first days of the school year, as you may wish to use the decoration process as a method to introduce each student to each other, as well as including the classroom photograph that is normally taken the first several weeks of the school year.

• Dear Big Bad Wolf
  Objective: Students will write letters as their favorite fairy tale characters.
• Flags of Freedom
  Objective: Students will be able to understand some of the freedoms they enjoy as a US citizen. Students will write answers to 13 questions in the bars of the flag. 3.2
• God Bless America Scrapbook Pages
  Objective: Students will create scrapbook pages about what American means to them.
• Graphing Landmarks
  Objective: Students will research one attribute of several American landmarks and graph them for the class. Students will create a multi-step math problem using the graphs that are created in class.
• Hometown Brochures
  Objective: Students will research the history, buildings, schools, stores, and/or cultural events that are unique to their community. Students will create a Hometown Brochure to display their work.
• The Library of Congress
  One of my favorite places that I visit is the Library of Congress – in Washington, DC and online at www.loc.gov. Here I am including many of my favorite links, and a short review.
• Road Trip
  Objective: Students will budget a road trip to visit one of the national landmarks and create a documentary.
• Symbolism and the American Flag
  Objective: Students will research and identify the symbolism in the flags of the United States. Students will design a flag of their own and then design The Book to display their findings and artwork.
• Symbols of the USA
  Objective: The student will research the significance of four United States symbols and create a poster to display their work.
• Writing A Letter
  Objective: Students will write a friendly letter.
